What a remarkable year 2019 has been for Fauquier Habitat for Humanity. We built a house, improved our selection and partnership programs, strengthened the relationships and governance in two of our core neighborhoods, instituted a resident leadership program, and placed four longdeserving homeowners into mortgages. We saw our Habitat family grow with dozens of new volunteers, three new staff members, and numerous community partners. We have been blessed with two major grants that help us move forward with genuine community building.
It's been nothing short of a miraculous 2019.
But we shouldn't be surprised. At Habitat, we see miracles happen frequently. Recently, Habitat volunteers reminded us of a past partner family build. Fauquier Habitat pledged to get the family into their new home before Christmas. The building site proved challenging, and delays pushed the construction well into December. The spirit of Habiat took over, and the volunteers powered through - finishing construction in time to move the family into their new Habitat home on Christmas Eve.
Christmas morning, the family woke to warmth, happiness, and security. When the family looked outside, they saw the roof had collapsed on thier old home. The morning was a real miracle for this deserving family.
Every build site, every rehab, every neighborhood cleanup is a miracle for a deserving Habitat Partner - and these miracles can be transformational for generations. Better educational outcomes, job opportunities, increased economic potential, and better overall family health. We build so much more than houses; We build HOPE, DIGNITY, and OPPORTUNITY.
My wish is you join us in continuing to make this possible.
